5-Amino-1MQ 10mg
5-Amino-1MQ (5-amino-1-methylquinolinium) is a small-molecule methylquinolinium compound, not a peptide, studied as an inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), the enzyme that methylates nicotinamide to 1-methylnicotinamide (1-MNA) using S-adenosylmethionine (SAM). This listing contains 10mg of lyophilized material. Supplied strictly for in-vitro research and laboratory use only. Not for human or animal use.

Mechanism of Action
Neelakantan et al. (2018) characterized a series of membrane-permeable methylquinolinium NNMT inhibitors, the scaffold class that includes 5-amino-1MQ. The inhibitors did not inhibit related SAM-dependent methyltransferases or NAD+ salvage-pathway enzymes, and in cultured adipocytes they reduced intracellular 1-MNA, increased intracellular NAD+ and SAM, and suppressed lipogenesis. The study also reported reduced white adipose mass in a diet-induced obese mouse model treated with a potent inhibitor from the series; that mouse finding does not establish effects outside the model.
