Lyophilized Peptide

PE 22-28

10mg

PE 22-28 is a synthetic peptide fragment derived from spexin (SPX), a 14-amino-acid neuropeptide first identified by bioinformatics and encoded by the C12orf39 gene. PE 22-28 corresponds to a spexin-based sequence retaining activity at galanin receptor subtypes and is studied as a receptor-pharmacology tool for the spexin/galanin/kisspeptin system. Supplied strictly for in-vitro research and laboratory use only. Not for human or animal use.

Mechanism of Action

Spexin and its fragments act as endogenous ligands for galanin receptor types 2 and 3 (GALR2/GALR3), rhodopsin-like G-protein-coupled receptors, with markedly higher potency at GALR3 than galanin itself and little activity at GALR1. In research models this receptor engagement is studied for central signaling relevant to energy-metabolism regulation and adipocyte fatty-acid handling, and spexin expression is strongly downregulated in obese adipose tissue. PE 22-28 is used to probe these GALR2/3-mediated pathways.
