Lipo-C is an aqueous lipotropic blend supplied in a 10mL vial at 216mg/mL of combined actives: L-carnitine (20mg/mL), L-arginine (20mg/mL), L-methionine (25mg/mL), inositol (50mg/mL), choline (50mg/mL), vitamin B6 (25mg/mL), vitamin B5 as dexpanthenol (25mg/mL) and vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin (1mg/mL). The methionine, inositol and choline components are often referred to together as MIC. Mechanism of Action
The cited evidence concerns individual components. Longo et al. (2016) review carnitine's role in carrying long-chain fatty acids across the inner mitochondrial membrane for beta-oxidation, and its cellular uptake through the OCTN2 transporter. Corbin and Zeisel (2012) review choline's role in hepatic phospholipid synthesis and lipoprotein secretion. Anstee and Goldin (2006) describe the dietary methionine/choline-deficient mouse, one of the most widely used experimental models of hepatic lipid accumulation, which is why methionine and choline are commonly studied together in lipid-handling research. None of these cited studies tested the combined formulation.
