Selank

10mg

Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) combining the tuftsin tetrapeptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) with the Pro-Gly-Pro (PGP) stabilizing sequence also used in Semax. Developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Selank is classified as an anxiolytic and nootropic peptide in Russian pharmacopoeia. It modulates GABAergic neurotransmission and has demonstrated anxiolytic effects comparable to benzodiazepines without sedation, motor impairment, or dependence potential in preclinical models.

Mechanism of Action

Selank enhances GABA-A receptor sensitivity to GABA without direct benzodiazepine site binding, increasing GABAergic inhibitory tone in limbic structures. It also modulates serotonin metabolism by inhibiting enkephalinase activity, increasing endogenous enkephalin levels. Additionally, Selank upregulates IL-6 expression, modulates T-helper cell balance (Th1/Th2), and enhances NK cell activity, indicating immunomodulatory properties. The tuftsin component is a known phagocytosis-stimulating peptide recognized by neutrophils and macrophages.
