Mechanism of Action
In rats, Dolotov et al. reported increased BDNF and TrkB expression in the hippocampus after a single exposure to Semax. Agapova et al. reported increased NGF gene expression in rat hippocampus but decreased NGF gene expression in rat frontal cortex after a single exposure. It modulates the melanocortin system via MC4R interaction without significant adrenal steroidogenic activity in the studied dose ranges.
